New Clitheroe Club
Launch of the Age UK Health and Wellbeing Centre
By Beverley Small
I visited the new look Clitheroe Club on Friday 28th November 2014 to attend the launch of the new Age UK Health and Wellbeing Centre.
The new centre is very welcoming with lots of space to meet friends and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee. You don’t need to make an appointment, you can just drop in and see for yourself.
On the day I visited Richard Harrington was there to say a few words before joining the assembled crowd in a rendition of “White Christmas” accompanied by a gentleman on his mouth organ. It was a lovely moment as we all sang along. This was followed by a buffet lunch or a hot meal for those who belong to the 10-2 Club (which runs every day from Monday to Friday). As I left a young lady had just begun singing songs and playing her guitar.
You can take part in a number of activities in the new club, such as quizzes, yoga, entertainment, events, speakers and computer sessions. You can also get information and advice, see the chiropodist, attend the hearing aid and eye clinics and much more.
