Dick Whittington Public House - December 2019

January 2017

The “Dick Whittington” Public House in Prestwick Road has recently been refurbished and is under new management.

December 2019

The Dick Whittington is now looking very sorry for itself. Does anyone know what the future holds for the building?

  • I was commissioned to paint the pub by the then landlady, Pauline. I still have some limited edition prints if anyone interested. Check it out on website http://www.toullafineart.co.uk

  • My Dad’s local, fond memories of sitting outside in the garden, or the benches at the front of the pub, drinking Orangillo and eating an arrowroot biscuit as a child.

  • I worked in the pub when Marie and John Jefferys, with  Derek Rawlinson who lived in Ilkey Road, owned it in the mid 60’s. We both worked there until Maureen and Seamus took over. It was great fun but hard work especially at week ends. I still see people on the estate whose parents were regulars.
