This brings back fond memories of Mrs Wilcox, who bought me a tiny ‘Whimsy’ ornament of a grey squirrel – the school emblem at that time, in the early 1980s – for reasons I’ve since forgotten, possibly for a birthday, or perhaps for doing well at school!? My mum took over the school crossing patrol role when Mrs Wilcox retired & also loved the job & did it for quite some time . . . though not for 30 years!
I’m sure she gave out sweets for the first one/s out the gate at home time…..I recall racing down the pathway with several others.
I so well remember Mrs Wilcox. She was so kind, always cheerful even on rainy days and thoroughly enjoyed her job as crossing patrol lady. I remember too Mr Tamblyn -Jones. He was my PE teacher. Such happy days…..
