This shows a  formal photograph of ARP Wardens in Oxhey during the war.

Do you know any of the Wardens or do you know where the photograph was take?

This is a picture of the Oxhey branch of ARP wardens taken in 1940. ARP stands for Air Raid Precautions and the main purpose of the wardens was to protect civilians from the danger of air raids including making sure that people were able to access an air raid shelter or other safe place. Each street had an ARP warden and their job included sending for fire engines and ambulances and checking for casualties and unexploded bombs.
