Cow Lane and the trains

A walk in the past (oral history)

Well, when I first came over here Cow Lane you used to go underneath, the farmer used to go underneath [the railway], and half way through they used to have a foundry, one part for the cows and the other part for the walking, people walking through, and you used to cut through there to go at the back of the railway to go to Watford Fields.  We used to cut through there, and then you could go down to Watford through Bushey and that used to be there.

We used to go through there and have a look at the trains coming through, because it goes beside the railway and you could watch the old steam trains coming through and they used to have a trough in the middle of the line and they used to pick up the water.
