From Hemel to Oxhey

We first moved from Hemel to South Oxhey in January c1976. It was very cold and the trains were on stike. I came by bus with 2 large suitcases with net curtains in it. When we arrived we found the previous tenant had taken the fittings and light bulbs so we couldn't put the nets up.

It was a lovely estate with green fields and good shops, like United Dairies, Sainsbury's and fish shops. On a Sunday when shops were closed you could window shop as there were no shutters. That was lovely.
