Clarendon School

'The Crusader'

By Susan Waller

The statue that was called ‘The Crusader‘ stood at one corner of the Clarendon building on the corner of a small wall that overlooked the playing field.  It was still there just before the building was demolished.  Does anybody know what it origins were and what happened to it as it was quite a sizeable statue ?

Another photograph has been passed on to “Our Oxhey” and came from Mr Stewart’s daughter.  The photograph shows an Art Class being taught by Mr Lord (Art Teacher) and shows the whole of the ” The Crusader“.

Were you part of this group of pupils ? Do you know the year it was taken ?

  • Does anyone remember when a sanitary towel was looped over the crusaders head, and Mr Stewart was not impressed?
