  • I am fairly certain that the man standing behind the piano, next to the man beside the mirror, is my grandfather, Robert Hills, who moved from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the early 1960s, joined the Clitheroe Club and eventually married Edith Cole, the warden, who lived in the house in Clitheroe Gardens opposite the club.  My mother, Rhoda Fawkes, used to play the piano sometimes at the various club functions and often helped out at the jumble sales.  My parents and I lived in st Georges drive from 1948 until 1974.
