Hobbits, Orcs and Wargriders at Oxhey Library

Our first ever Games Club

By Emily Jacques

Oxhey Library ran it’s first ever Games Club in the summer of 2010, where young people could come and paint miniature warriors, design and build their own battle terrains and learn how to play Lord of the Rings strategy games.

Boys and girls aged from 9-12 were full of enthusiasm to learn the games and be part of the team.  Those who came were encouraged to paint Orcs, hobbits and Wargriders and to tell the stories of Modor and Hobbiton in a new way by creating their own warriors and worlds.

“I liked painting the armies and I liked creating the warriors” (Nathan aged 10)

“Just wanted to say the Gaming Club was a fantastic idea and my son absolutely loved it, thank you to all involved” (Dan aged 9’s mum)

Did you come to the Games Club, did you have a good time?  Tell us what you thought
