Tea and cake

Tea, biscuits and cakes were in plentful supply at Oxhey Library on Thursday 5th October 2011, when we held a ITea and Biscuits party to celebrate Older People’s Day with Hertfordshire Adult and Family Learning Service (HAFLS)

Get Online

While people were enjoying the refreshments, we spoke to everyone about their IT skills, what they were able to do and what they wanted to be able to do.  Many people were beginners, who wanted to start using computers, and we were able to advise them on courses in the area, including beginners taster sessions in the libarary.  By the end of the event, everyone had recieved advice to help them Get Online.

Our Oxhey

Volunteers from the Our Oxhey website were there to show people how they could add their memories to the Our Oxhey website if they learned a few new IT skills.

One prospective learner said “I have loads of reference books at home, but I would like to learn how to find information on the Internet”
