By 1957 the numbers of children on the South Oxhey Estate had risen considerably and it was necessary to hold classes in the Dining Room and in the area outside the Junior Hall at Oxhey Wood Junior School as well as in the classrooms.

  • Classes where being held in the dinning room before 1957.

    I left the school after passing my 11+ in July 1955.  My Autograph Book was started in that month and is full of dates in July.

    I recall that the classroom was partitioned off with cupboards similar to the one in the photo above.  The whole class helped to paint pictures on it’s back, which faced the entrance from the corridor.
