  • Great pictures, my memories only go back to 1940, when I remember when you went over Carpenders Park station bridge in the direction of the to Watford platform you descended a set of steps leading to a ‘Kissing Gate’ turned right parallel to the railway line to another ‘Kissing Gate’ near the ‘Cattle Tunnel’ then turn left towards ‘Blackwell House’ & then right towards the clubhouse. Prior to turning right, the army set up a ‘Searchlight Base’ on the left of the track,to coincide with the ‘Ack Ack’ Guns at ‘Highfields’ opposite Brazier’s Dairy in Oxhey Lane.
