This plan is contained within records held by Hertfordshire Archives relating to the Oxhey estate, the property of the Bucknall and Estcourt families, 1670-1888.
The Estcourt family were known to be living at Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire from 1303. Walter de la Estcourt held half the fee of the manor of Estcourt. Since that date the size of the family estates increased enormously.
The family acquired land in Oxhey came to the family through the marriage of Thomas Estcourt to Jane, daughter of Viscount Grimston on 6 October 1774. Thomas died on 2 December 1818 at age 70

This is Headstone Manor House Harrow, the long road is Pinner View.
I remember the farm on Oxhey Lane ; it was a group of very old buildings. Is it possible this is that farm? If so , the vertical yellow road to left would be Little Oxhey Lane , and the yellow horizontal road would be Oxhey Lane , leading to Headstone Lane . Could this have originally been Hedgestone ? in which case it all would seem to add up. (unless I have added 2 and2 together and made 5 🙂 )
I wonder how far into Hatch End and maybe how near to Carpenders Park?
Very interesting map
