Is this the end for the Crescent Club?
New homes
Watford Observer
From Watford Observer 12/11/10
A social club in South Oxhey will be converted into a new block of flats and houses. The Crescent Club, formerly known as the Services Club , and its garages will be developed into four three-bedroomed flats. A single two and three-storey building, with its own car parking, will be built on the site in Hallowes Crescent. In a statement the developer Paradigm Housing , a social housing provider said, “The existing building is under utilised and this has been discussed at some length with the local authority and the usage is not sustainable.”

The Crescent Club was demolished last week and the site is being prepared for the building of flats. This is not the original development as stated above but is now part of the ‘South Oxhey Initiative’.

Just wondering why the old club was demolished and also wondering what happened to the clubs records
I can remember in the early days you had to queue to get a seat for the weekend entertainment. Over the years the club got less backing from anyone, so it took private money for its last years survival, for which I thank Tommy Sullivan, Val Ross and Jean Tarling. The old club had dart teams, pool teams, dominoes that the clubs could be proud of.
It would now appear that the planning application for this development will not go ahead.
