just my memories

We moved in to 50 Ashburnham drive about 1952/53, i was about 5yrs old at the time it was a sunny day when we arrived me (Tony) my sister Dawn, and mum and dad, Joyce and Norman Davison, I can just about remember sitting on the stairs, the house was brand new, and quite empty, it wasn’t long before i went to Little furze infants school, but i just can’t recall the teachers names, made friends with a lad named William Card lived near the school,in Hayling Road close, then moved on to the Junior part, remember making trolly’s from old pram wheels, large ones at the back and small wheels at the front for steering, we had great fun racing down Ashburnham drive gathering speed as we went down the road around the corner and in to the close,to see which trolly was the fastest,, also remember every Good Friday cycling around the Herts country side.

  • My comments on the redevelopment of the Little Furze site are elsewhere on Our Oxhey but I’ve read from ex-pupils (and I am not one) of a brown cow at the entrance. I’d love to hear from anyone who remembers this brown cow, especially if they can supply any details.
