In the summer of 2008, the library in Bridlington Road closed to the public for a refurbishment funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

The library service and staff all moved to a smaller building at 39, Oxhey Drive, just around the corner from the old building.  As the building was so much smaller, the stock and services offered were also reduced, but staff cheerfully carried on serving their customers for a whole year at this site.

In August 2009, the temporary library was shut and the staff moved all the stock back into the newly refurbished building, complete with brand new IT Suite and Community Room and a new self service issue system.
